Victim Help

HELP FOR VICTIMS
No one deserves to be abused. If this is happening to you, it is not your fault. Help is available by calling any of the phone numbers listed here. Please remember: you're not alone!

By no means is this an all-inclusive list. I've created a nationwide, comprehensive list of organizations in the back of my book as an Appendix. If you can't afford to buy my book and need those resources, please send me an email at
lorikauble@yahoo.com. In the subject line of your email simply type APPENDIX, and I'll email a copy to you. If you need more help, please let me know in the body of your email, and I'll intercede on your behalf to assist you in whatever way I can. Thank you so much.

HERE’S HOW TO HELP OTHERS BEING ABUSED:

--Plan what you want to say, and find a private place to have the conversation.
--Ask questions like “How can I help you?” “What do you want me to do about your situation?”
--Be supportive and listen to the victim give you time to answer these questions. Don’t just say “Just get out of the situation.” THAT IS NOT A SAFE PIECE OF ADVICE.
--Let the victim know you understand verbal, physical, and emotional abuse is never acceptable and not the victim’s fault. Provide them with these resources.

To help a child being abused: REPORT ANY SUSPISCIOUS ACTIONS TO CHILDREN’S SERVICES (NUMBER NOTED ABOVE), LINK THE CHILD TO A SAFE ADULT, AND CONTACT CHILD HELP USA (NUMBER ALSO NOTED ABOVE).
